Join us for an 8-day intensive workshop led by Donovan Zimmerman of the renowned Paperhand Puppet Project.

Join us for an extraordinary 8-day consecutive master class led by Donovan Zimmerman, co-founder and director of the acclaimed Paperhand Puppet Intervention of North Carolina. Donovan is an artist, puppeteer, and storyteller whose large-scale creations made from papier-mâché, cardboard, and found materials have inspired audiences nationwide for over 25 years.

In this immersive, hands-on workshop, participants will learn the techniques of large-scale puppet and mask construction—from design and sculpting to finishing and movement. You’ll explore how to transform simple, sustainable materials into expressive, monumental figures for parades, performances, and public art.

This workshop is ideal for artists, builders, and dreamers who want to expand their creative practice and learn from one of the leading voices in community-based spectacle arts.

Workshop Schedule (All 8 Consecutive Days):
Weekday Sessions: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Weekend Sessions: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with a 1:00–2:00 PM lunch break)

Cost: $50 refundable deposit — Class is free thanks to 4Culture funding
