In this immersive, hands-on workshop, participants will learn the techniques of large-scale puppet and mask construction—from design and sculpting to finishing and movement. You’ll explore how to transform simple, sustainable materials into expressive, monumental figures for parades, performances, and public art.
This workshop is ideal for artists, builders, and dreamers who want to expand their creative practice and learn from one of the leading voices in community-based spectacle arts.

About Donovan Zimmerman
Donovan Zimmerman is a puppeteer, sculptor, and activist best known for co-founding Paperhand Puppet Intervention, a troupe celebrated for its giant puppets, masks, and performances centered on themes of community, nature, and social change. His work has been featured across the country in parades, theaters, and festivals, using art as a vehicle for connection and wonder.
