"Rains of Change" musical instrument workshop

We will be making drums, rain sticks, and other instruments out of recycled materials. Make an instrument with us and then bring it along to May Day the following weekend!

We have some recycled materials available. You are also welcome to optionally bring your own from home (large empty soup cans or 5 gallon buckets work well).

All ages are welcome!

Note that at May Day, John Hayden will be leading a drum circle! So get your upcycled instrument ready at this workshop to join in the fun. More about John:

'Jamtown’ John promotes in-the-moment & accessible music play for youth, community and business via facilitated drum circles. He produces the Northwest Folklife ‘Rhythm Tent’ Stage since 2004 – 3 days of facilitated rhythm action and leads drums circles and music events for all ages, including seniors memory care and other special populations. He is a certified Village Music Circles™ Global Trainer hosting a 3 Day Basic Facilitation Playshop this July 28-30th  in Ballard.  John writes & performs kids music with ukulele and Jamtown® instruments as the Jamtown Howdy Band – and has performed at Northwest Folklife, Alki Art Fest, Bellevue Movie Nights and many events around the Puget Sound. He also teaches hand drum classes in Edmonds on Tuesdays.
