Apply for Board Membership!

It is that time of year when the Fremont Arts Council elects members to our board of directors. Many of our current Board are returning to serve the community, but there is more room for a few individuals who would make a great addition to FAC leadership.  Nominations are now open and will remain open until February 29th. The nominating committee will choose among applicants to put forth on the ballot to go out on March 2.  The board election is on March 10.

Board members are asked to:

• Serve for two years on the board
• Prepare for and attend monthly board meetings
• Provide leadership on at least one of the roles listed below
• Participate in organizational planning and oversight
• Advocate for the best interests and mission of the Fremont Arts Council.

Board Members are needed to fill any of these roles:

• Event Champions: You want to help with planning, management and logistics for any or all of the FAC’s amazing events. There are lots of great ways to plug right in! 
• Fundraising Team. You are passionate about fundraising. You enjoy cultivating relationships with sponsors and donors. Grant-writing is a plus. Record-keeping is important too.  Help secure funding to support our community celebration artful antics!
• Volunteer Engagement is your passion!  Help the FAC to improve systems to engage, recruit and manage volunteers to strengthen and expand our core programs and leadership.
• Racial Equity & Inclusion Action Team: Work to assure that people of all backgrounds and identities are offered the opportunity and feel welcomed at all FAC events and activities.
• Communications: You have excellent verbal, written and editing skills and would like to help manage our social media presence and other communications. Write content for newsletters, web, and press releases. Comfortable with building community relations an partnerships. Graphic design skills a real plus.
• Powerhouse Champions: Coordinate powerhouse host schedule, art workshops and cleaning parties. Keep powerhouse ship shape and supplies well stocked. May also help to maintain the Powerhouse, the Fremont Troll, as well as storage areas, and other “capital”.
• Administration Team: Keep us on track with calendars, agendas, minutes, meeting announcements, reminder emails, permits. Coordinate with communications team to send out our monthly newsletter. Help to keep our google drive, membership database and website running smoothly. You like record keeping, lists and systems. Super organized and detail oriented. Support the board and the events and outreach teams.
• Treasurer. You are adept at financial systems, financial reports and budgets.  Taxes and banking doesn’t scare you. You can help support the bookkeeper and the fundraising team. You are good at Quickbooks or a fast learner.
• IT Support: You help manage our google drive, ISP, Domains, and troubleshoot the internet connection at the powerhouse.

Ideal board members have:

• Interest in volunteering 5-10 hours per month; plus attend at least an occasional COW meeting (held monthly on a Tuesday evening).
• Positive, proactive, and enthusiastic attitude for the FAC and for community celebration art
• Good communication skills
• Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Experience or skills that can help make the FAC shine.

• Continual improvements to build a supportive and inclusive community culture.
• A solid foundation for the Fremont Arts Council, with year-round leadership teams and year-round staff.
• Support world class art and celebrations.
