The Fremont Arts Council is excited to present our Artist in Residence for the 2016 Fremont Solstice Parade! Brian KooserGiant Puppet & Float Parade Ensemble Workshops for “Return of the Dark” Thursdays & Fridays, May 12 – June 17 6pm – 9pmPowerhouse Art Studio 3940 Fremont Ave N 98103 (206) 546-7440
The Ensemble will include giant puppets on a float, one inflatable, and costumed performers. The imagery will be designed to give hope to people who may be fatigued by images of war and destruction. While there is no flinching from the destruction itself, the darkness, or fear, is exposed for it’s propaganda purposes. Throughout all of the activity, the Sun moves unafraid through the rubble offering his light and warmth to those who long to rebuild.
A Fremont Arts Council Member since 1994, Brian Kooser has taught parade art workshops and produced numerous original spectacular large scale Parade float and giant puppet ensembles for the Fremont Solstice Parade. He has served on the FAC Board and as Parade Workshop Lead.
Brian has extensive professional experience producing contemporary adult puppet theatre, lecturing, exhibiting and teaching parade spectacle design, giant puppet building and performance workshops. MFA Sculpture & Theater, Central WA Univ.
As this year’s Artist in Residence, Brian will teach 12 workshops to create a major Parade ensemble piece with Volunteers.
