Learn from the great puppet artist Brian Kooser of Blue Bear Puppet Lab. Brian has brought his ensembles to our Solstice Parade for years, and you may have seen his annual "Buskers in the Burg" puppet parade in Ellensburg every September. Brian will teach participants how to create heads for giant puppets.
The class will build two or more puppet heads as a group, based on designs chosen by the group. Follow up classes with Fremont Arts Council volunteer staff will be held for the making of puppet clothes and accessories. After the class, participants will be welcome to use their skills to build their own puppet head in our artist workshop space, the Powerhouse. You can participate in a giant puppet ensemble in the Solstice Parade, and future Solstice Parades! This is a skill to last a lifetime of giant puppet fun.
The class is held over the weekend of May 18th and 19th at our artist workshop, the Powerhouse in Fremont. Classes will start each day at 10:00AM and last for 6 hours each day. By the end, you will have enough skill to build your own giant puppet head, and teach others the skills.
